Biography

Michael May was born in Berlin in 1959 and first learned playing guitar with Patrick Zeoli and Jaime Zenamon. He attended the "Hochschule der Künste" (Academy of Arts) in Berlin and studied concert guitar. After his studies he began further studies at the "Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main" (Academy for Music and Arts Frankfurt/Main) with Michael Teuchert. He won a prize at the International Guitar Competition in Hof/Saale (Germany). He has teached at the Leo-Borchart-Musikschule in Berlin for many years and has produced the CDs Evocation with works by Gaspar Sanz, Fernando Sor, Augustin Barrios and Abel Carlevaro as well as Irgendwo in Frankreich (Somewhere in France) with his own compositions.
